Exyn Technologies was established in 2014 to commercialize decades of ground-breaking research in aerial robotics, drone swarms, multi-modal sensor fusion, 3D mapping, obstacle avoidance, and autonomous navigation & planning.
Exyn’s focus is on developing software for aerial robots so they can operate in GPS-denied environments, without human control, prior information, or pre-existing infrastructure (e.g. no motion capture system).
Exyn was growing quickly and needed a product operation that could keep pace with the growth in both their technical team and the demand from their customers.
When Exyn realized they needed help they hired NxtStep.
Sean helped us get organized within product operations and training for our junior product team members. Since then, we’ve made great progress in the right direction to achieving my goal of having a high functioning product development operation.

Exyn had plans to grow quickly. The technical team was becoming more complex and less manageable. A more significant product management presence was required to handle the complexity. This is when Chief Operating Officer, Ben Williams enlisted the help of Sean at NxtStep.
NxtStep began by performing discovery with leaders across the organization. A phased based development plan was created and presented to Ben to lay out a proper implementation towards his objective of achieving a high-functioning product development operation.
Simultaneously, we provided product management training services for existing and junior product team members. We developed custom programs around each team member to help them excel in the areas critical for success in product.
With our help, Ben and the other executive team members at Exyn were able to benefit from the development of a high-functioning product development operation. This has led to improved communication and productivity as we constantly prioritize process improvement and implement opportunities to continually improve product operational efficiency.
This has enabled Ben and the rest of the executive team to focus their precious time and effort in other critical areas of the business so that Exyn can continue to be even more successful moving forward.
Since working with NxtStep, we’ve been able to take products from idea to the hands of our customers in weeks, not months. We work with plenty of clients, but armed with the products that NxtStep helped us build, we have now we can reach an audience that is a multiple of the number of people we were previously able to help.
We are now enrolling people into our program faster than ever and much more prepared to scale.
