If you’re anything like me, you get a ridiculous amount of messages on LinkedIn with people trying to sell you something. It typically goes something like this.
Hello First Name!!
Let me tell you why we have the most delicious used cars that you could ever imagine!!
Here’s a very long and drawn out list of all the things we can do making it VERY difficult for you to have any idea what we actually do besides try desperately to sell anything!
- Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Option 4, Option 5…
How much of all of these wonderful things would you like to buy?!?!
Sincerely?
Never getting a response EVER
I know my version of this message is a tad bit exaggerated, but you might be surprised at how accurate this actually matches a VERY bad template that many companies use to try and sell over platforms like LinkedIn.
Long story short, these strategies almost never work so don’t believe anyone that tells you they do. You’ll just be wasting time and possibly damaging your brand.
Instead, you need to focus on investing in building a relationship with your prospect. Notice anything about the message above? It’s all about them and their company. It doesn’t have anything to do with me. There’s simply no value in it for me and this is the key.
Find a way to offer your prospect value so that they’ll actually WANT to respond to you.
