Designing your business model

There’s a lot to keep track of as you’re building your product.  It helps to have a place to organize everything.

You may have heard of the Lean Startup before.  It’s a great book written by Eric Ries and it helps people stay on track towards building a strong value proposition for their product or business.

However, you may not have heard of a Business Model Canvas before.  It’s a strategic tool for organizing your business model into a one page format of some key areas that will be important to your success.

I’m a big fan of keeping things simple when you’re building something new.  The Business Model Canvas is a great way to do that by focusing on the areas that matter most.

There’s a lot of books on this topic, but this one comes from Business Model Generation written by Alexander Osterwalder.

It might not have everything you’ll need, but it is a great place to start.
